In loving memory of Ronald Oscar Frasier: 1936 - 2026
Ron passed away peacefully with his family around him at his home in Vancouver, WA on April 15th, 2026. Ron was born on March 7th, 1936, in Woodland, WA to Oscar and Margaret Frasier with four siblings; older brother Ivan, younger brothers Bob and Norm and younger sister Marge.
He graduated from Central Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and a teaching certificate. He then obtained a master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Lewis and Clark college.
Ron met the love of his life, Donna, while attending Clark College where they were both studying music. They performed together in various programs and fell madly in love. They were married at the First Christian Church in Vancouver on September 20th, 1957, and have been happily married for 68 years.
He began his teaching career in Moses Lake Washington as a choral director. They lived in Moses Lake for two years, where their daughter Cindy and son Mike were born. They moved to Vancouver WA in 1961, where Ron continued his choral and drama teaching and daughter Lisa was born.
Ron’s passion for performing, teaching, and composing was evident in his many pursuits. He taught piano and voice at home, taught choir and drama in the Vancouver school district, performed in the San Francisco Opera and the Portland Opera. He was also very active in Vancouver’s Peanut Gallery productions, starring and performing in many musicals. His defining role was playing Don Quixote of La Mancha. He directed the Brahms singers that became The Vancouver USA singers for many years and often performed for local venues and clubs as a guest artist with his beloved wife Donna. He composed and arranged many songs and musicals for the groups he led. He was also an avid reader and loved old western and swashbuckling movies.
His faith in Christ was a major part of his life. He spent his entire life serving others and serving the church through music by directing church choirs, singing, and drama productions. He served for many years at the First Christian Church, Crossroads Community Church and East Woods Church in Vancouver, WA.
Ron impacted many lives in a very personal way. He was a mentor, life counselor, encourager, friend, and confidante for a countless number of people of all ages. He had a
special gift for listening and understanding that simply drew people near to him and made them feel safe and important. He will be remembered for his compassionate spirit, leadership and undying faith. A truly special man!
Ron is survived by his wife Donna, son Mike Frasier and his wife Suzy, daughter Lisa and her husband Kirk Pickering. Grandchildren, Kelsie and her husband Christien Chandler, Tyler Frasier, Austin Melo, and Abby Melo. Grandchildren by marriage, Mike Pickering and his wife Ashleigh, and Sherry Pickering. Great Grandchildren Henry, Ivy, and Matti Chandler, and Great Grandchildren by marriage Faith Smith, Caydence, Macy, Jasiah, and Hannah Pickering.
He was preceded in death by his first daughter Cindy, parents Oscar and Margaret and brother Norm.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 1st, 2026, at 3:00 PM. The service will be held at Columbia Presbyterian Church located at 805 Columbia Ridge Dr. Vancouver, WA 98664 and is open to anyone who wants to attend.
