Phyllis J. (Nevels) Albertson, born February 27, 1926 at home in Seattle, King County Washington, died April 11, 2021 at home, in Elma, WA of cancer at the age of 95, she lead a full life. She was a long time resident of Longview and Elma WA
Surviving are two sons, James F. Nevels Jr, of Kasilof, Alaska and Edward Cooper of Clayton, Oklahoma. Her three daughters, Nina Kaufman of Elma, WA, Sandra Barritt of Clayton Oklahoma and Nancy Cooper, who is now deceased. She has two granddaughters, Jennifer Martinez of Malone, WA and Julie Jennings of Longview, WA. She has six great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren, Including numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Phyllis is one of six children born to Nina M. Galor and Clarence B. Foster who are now deceased.
She attended schools in Seattle, later on dropping out of high school; she got her GED from Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon.
Earlier in life she worked on a Military base as a civilian. She had various jobs at lumber mills, fish canneries, including making fishing poles at Lamiglass in Woodland, WA. And back in the day as a cook at 2 restaurants in Longview, WA. She also worked as a certified Nurses Assistant in various nursing homes in Long beach, WA
Phyllis belonged to a Grandmothers Club, the Pioneer Lions and was a life long member of the American Legion, receiving the Presidents Appreciation Award from 1999-2000. She was a volunteer at a rest area on Highway 8 to serve coffee and cookies to people who stopped there.
