Nicholas Endicott of Vancouver, Washington, died on June 24, 2025.
Nick was born Jan. 3, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, to Benjamin Endicott and Helen (Salatino) Endicott.
Nick’s wife of seven decades, Linda (Leisure) died eight days later on July 2, 2025. The couple are survived by four of their six children: Patricia Preston (Randy), Anna Danzer (Paul), Joe Endicott (Michelle) and Kelly Endicott (Angela). Their sons Nicholas Jr. and James preceded him in death.
He is also survived by daughter Lynda Hartman of Florida.
His daughter Elma Tilei and grandsons Joshua Endicott and Benjamin Crawford preceded Nick in death.
Nick is survived by dozens grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Nick served in the Navy for 20 years over several stints, including during the Korean War. Upon retiring from the Navy, Nick worked as a mechanic in New York and West Virginia before the family moved to Long Beach, California. He retired as a marine machinist at the Navy shipyard in Long Beach, California.
It was in the Navy that he met the love of his life, Linda. She was also in the Navy, working as a switchboard operator at U.S. Navy Air Station Anacosta in the District of Columbia.
Nick and Linda raised their family in Maine, New York state, Virginia, West Virginia and Southern California. Linda and Nick moved to Battle Ground in 2004 and have been in Clark County since.
For recreation, Nick and Linda enjoyed camping with friends and family and, later in life, spending time with their grandchildren. After moving to Clark County, Nick enjoyed fishing and hunting with son Kelly and grandson David Endicott.
When not working on projects to keep the home in ship shape, Nick also enjoyed watching Westerns and was particularly fond of John Wayne movies.
Prior to joining the Navy in 1948, Nick spent time working as a ranch hand in Tucson, Arizona.
Nick and three siblings were raised in Brooklyn and on a family farm in Saratoga County, New York.
The funeral for Nick and Linda will happen at 11 a.m. Thursday, August. 7 at the Vancouver Barracks National Cemetery, 1455 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.
