Michael Schrantz

Michael David Schrantz, Sr. was born on November 27, 1948 in Goldendale, WA, and raised by his mother, Sally (Helfer) Forge and his stepfather, Bud Forge in Yakima WA. He has one older sister, one younger brother, and two younger sisters. Mike was a devoted big brother, who loved and cared for all of his siblings.

In 1964, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Ackerman. Mike graduated from Davis High School in Yakima in 1967. By enlisting in the Navy, Mike was able to remain in Yakima until Liz graduated. They were married on July 20, 1968, and in October of 1968 Mike reported for duty and was shipped out to sea. He served 4 years and was stationed on the USS Nemitz, USS Saratoga and USS Enterprise as an aircraft mechanic. Mike was a true patriot and took great pride in his military service.

While out to sea on his first tour, his son, Michael David Schrantz, Jr. was born. Upon completion of his military service, he returned home to Yakima and eventually relocated his family to Vancouver, WA, to join his dear friends Steve and Terri Fierst. It was here that his second son, Brian, was born. Mike and Liz raised their 2 very active boys in Vancouver. Mike enjoyed coaching youth sports and participating in family gatherings in Vancouver and in Yakima to ensure he maintained close relations with the Forges and Ackermans. He used the frequent trips to Yakima to keep in touch with the friends that he and Liz had grown up with there. Mike and Liz were blessed with 2 cherished grandchildren, Rebecca and Brianna. The love and adoration among the four was very special to all that knew them.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Liz) in 2014, whom he adored until the day he passed, speaking frequently and with anticipation of their reunion in Heaven.
