On September 4, 1963, Michael John Brooks was born in Port Angeles, Washington to Ronald James and Lois Jean (Pickruhn) Brooks. He was a 1981 graduate of Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon. At 17, Mike enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany at the same base with his Uncle Walter Pickruhn in Germany. His final duty station was close to home at Ft Lewis, WA. He served his country proudly for 6 years.
Mike lived in Vancouver from 1987 until his passing on March 2, 2026. He spent over 30 years working for Pro-Tech Industries in Vancouver. Pro-Tech was not just a job to Mike, it was his life. Many of his co-workers and customers became life-long friends.
He enjoyed Nascar, golf, camping and spending time with friends. Many of his friends affectionately referred to him as Mikey. His friends were the glue that held Mike together over the years with the loss of his Mom and Dad and unexpected early retirement.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Lois Brooks. He is survived by his sisters Caryn Robison of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Andrea Chandler and Tiffany Brooks of Vancouver and Julie Brooks of Dayton, Oregon. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Michelle, Lisa, Nick, Cody, Che, Gia, Rio, Charli, Lilli, Sam, Madisyn, Lauryn and Fynley. Having no children of his own, Mike was affectionately referred to as the fun uncle by his oldest niece.
Many thanks to Sam Robinson, Allan Lint and family, Kelly Chrisler, Kel Dunlap and Bruce Hyke for being there for Mike for so many years and for offering their kindness and sympathy to the family in recent months.
Cremation has taken place and Mike will rest next to his Mom at Northwood Park Cemetery in Ridgefield, WA. There will be no services at this time. His friends are encouraged to celebrate Mike as they would if he was here, a Nascar race, a round of golf, camping in Ocean Park, WA or shooting pool at Lucky’s Roadhouse.
