Linda Endicott

April 3, 1936 — July 2, 2025

Vancouver, Washington

Linda Lee (Leisure) Endicott of Vancouver, Washington died July 2, 2025.

Linda was born on April 3, 1936 to Violet May (Spiker) and Clemence Ellsworth Leisure in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was a middle child of their eight children, and the last surviving.

Linda’s beloved husband, Nicholas (Nick) Endicott, preceded her in death by eight days. Linda is survived by four of their six children: Patricia Preston (Randy), Anna Danzer (Paul), Joe Endicott (Michelle) and Kelly Endicott (Angela). Sons Nicholas Jr. and James preceded her in death.

Linda is survived by dozens of grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She and Nick helped raise son Nick Jr.’s children: Tashina, Nick and Tiffany.

Linda served 11 months in the Navy in 1954-55. She was working as a switchboard operator at U.S. Navy Air Station Anacosta in the District of Columbia when she and Nick met. Their first meeting (at a local watering hole) was memorable — at least for Linda. As they told the story:

Linda asked Nick to get her a Coke. Nick’s reply was along the lines of “Your legs aren’t broken. Get it yourself.”

Soon, Nick began hearing that some mystery woman on base was telling friends she was going to marry him. Though at first he didn’t know who this woman was, the marriage Linda predicted lasted seven decades. The kicker: Most days in their retirement years, Nick would bring Linda a Coke in a cup of ice.

Nick and Linda raised their family in Maine, New York state, Virginia, West Virginia and Southern California. Linda and Nick moved to Battle Ground in 2004 and lived in Clark County until their deaths.

For many years, Linda was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Retired Veterans.

While raising her children, Linda crocheted hats and vests for her kids.

For much of their lives, she and Nick enjoyed camping and the occasional visit to a casino. Linda was a sports fan who especially enjoyed watching football and baseball. Among her favorite teams were the Raiders and West Virginia Mountaineers. And, later in life, the Oregon Ducks.

Linda loved animals. Among the great joys of her life were beloved pets Poppers and Starbuck (better known as Buck). Visits with her many grand-doggies filled her with joy.

Linda enjoyed planning and hosting family gatherings to celebrate holidays and birthdays.

Until age slowed her down, Linda was an avid shopper who especially delighted in going on shopping excursions with her daughters, granddaughters and daughters-in-law.

The funeral for Linda and Nick will happen at 11 a.m. Thursday, August. 7 at the Vancouver Barracks National Cemetery, 1455 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.
