Juanita Margaret Worden “Nita”, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born in 1930 in Cadillac, Michigan, Nita grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the strong Midwestern values that guided her throughout her life. As a young bride, she moved to Seattle with her husband, Stanley George Worden “Stan”, when he was stationed there during his military service. Together, they fell in love with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, with its evergreens, misty mornings, and spectacular nature, and made it their lifelong home.
Nita was a devoted wife, raising six children during often challenging circumstances. From military service in Germany, to rugged life on an Alaskan homestead, she created homey surroundings and family traditions regardless of her location. She was deeply involved in her church, where she found both spiritual strength and lasting friendships. Her quiet kindness and steadfast faith touched all who knew her, and she was recognized for a lifetime of service to Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene in Richfield, Washington.
She had a special love for her Pinebrook community among the evergreens, where she enjoyed long walks along the paths and found joy in the simple beauty of nature. An avid reader, Nita always had a book nearby and loved sharing stories, whether from the pages she read or the memories she carried. She loved crossword puzzles and could often be heard asking, “What’s a word for…”. Her home was a gathering place for family where multiple generations gathered for holidays and birthday celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stan; her three siblings (Herman Johnson, Doralie Petria Johnson, and Leone “Lee” Booth); and two of her sons, (Jeffrey Paul Worden January 8, 2013, and Christopher Donald Worden, January 9, 2015) and her son-in-law Tom Warner (July 2025). She is survived by her four devoted children, who lovingly cared for her in her later years, as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who adored her deeply.
Nita’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her
A celebration of her life will be held at the Pinebrook Neighborhood Clubhouse on Saturday October 18, 2025 at 4pm, followed by a reception with family and friends (617 NE 127th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98684).
Dementia has slowly taken our Mother/Grandmother from us in the most unforgiving manner, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association of America in the Worden family name.
