Darren Thomas Lyda (aka McClure) was born in Longview Washington on June 2, 1971 and passed from this life into the arms of his Savior on February 10, 2021. He grew up in Arlington, Washington where he later graduated from High School in 1989. Darren enjoyed raising animals for 4H, ran high school cross country track, and was active in his church youth group and choir. He served in the United States Air Force from 1989 to 1993 at Chanute AFB, Illinois. He was a Patriot who loved God and country.
In 2004, Darren married Robin McLaury in Kalispell, Montana, and settled into his job at National Flood Services. They welcomed a daughter Madelyn in 2006. Another daughter Taleah was born January 8, 2009 and joined Heaven’s nursery four days later.
The family relocated to Longview in 2017. Darren was active in their church and neighborhood always ready to offer a helping hand. He was an integral part of the Worship Team of Kelso Christian Assembly and enjoyed ministering to the Lord on the keyboard and in song.
Darren was a man of God, strong in his convictions. He loved others, reached out to the hurting and loved his family with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by daughter Taleah, father Thomas Lyda and Robin’s parents Erwin & Jean McLaury. He is survived by his loving wife Robin, daughter Madelyn, mother and step father Loretta & Ray Schmidt, sister Suzanne and husband Jeremy Mason, niece Noelle and nephew Carter Mason. A large extended family also survives him.
A celebration of Darren’s life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Kelso Christian Assembly, 403 Academy Street, Kelso WA. Private interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
