Charles Hayden Shannon (18 July 1956 -27 February 2024), 67, of Battle Ground, passed away unexpectedly on 27 Feb 2024. Chuck, son of Charles J Shannon and Dorothy McCamley, was a native of Upper Darby, PA where he enjoyed a record-breaking career with UDHS Track and Field. Upon graduation, Chuck's ambitions led him to join the USAF in 1975. He began his 26-year career which spanned 3 career fields and saw him stationed at 7 duty locations including 2 in a theatre of war. Chuck retired as a CMSgt in 2001. His retirement was short lived as he began his second career as a AFJROTC Instructor at BGHS weeks before 9/11. For the next 22 years Chuck would mentor over 2,000 cadets before his final retirement in June of 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Stephen J Shannon and sister Kathleen E Toroian. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Pamela (Carlsen), daughters Erin D Shannon and Alexis Banducci, son Hayden M Shannon (Alexander Tannahill), granddaughters, Jade Aden, Kylee Banducci, grandson John A Blecha IV, nephews Brandon Davis-Shannon, Christopher Davis-Shannon, Jeffrey Bailey (Jessica Alvestad) and sister-in-laws Linda Davis and Debbie Bailey.
Chuck's life was wholly dedicated to service and characterized by the USAF core values, Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do.
Please join us for a celebration of life, held at 12pm., Saturday 16 March 2024 at Battle Ground High School.
