Donald Ray Kennedy

Archbishop (Ret.) Donald R. Kennedy died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the age of 82 at his residence in Monticello Park Assisted Living, Longview, Washington. He was born July 28, 1937 in Longview, Washington to Merritt J. and Lyda M. Kennedy.
He served with the U.S. Air Force in Alaska and South Korea. He then returned home to marry Judy M. Baker. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 11th.
Don worked at Longbell and R.W. Paper in Longview, served as Missionaries to a Maori village in New Zealand, pastored Bethel Full Gospel Church in Longview, was interim pastor at Columbia Heights Assembly of God Church in Longview, built a church in Cordes Lakes, Arizona where he served as pastor while working as an EMT and building houses for Capp Homes. He owned Kennedy Contracting, Inc. and General Estimating Services in Longview. He served as chaplain at the Portland International Airport and Portland Police for 5 years, he was chaplain for many years with Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Women’s Aglow International, the Royal Rangers chapter at Columbia Heights Assembly of God and Thousand Trails Park in Seaside, OR for 6 years. Don and his wife, Judy opened and ran the Castle Rock Youth Center in Castle Rock, WA for 7 years. He was active in RSVP volunteering over 10,000 hrs. He became a priest in the Apostolic Catholic Church of the East retiring as an Archbishop on his 75th birthday.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Kennedy of Vancouver, daughters Connie Lafady of Longview and Brenda Nestor of Vancouver, 2 grandchildren Michael Kennedy of Longview and Christina Lafady of Vancouver, 2 great-grandchildren Maddox Kennedy of Lakeland, Florida and Freya Kennedy of Longview, 3 brothers Ken Kennedy, Vern Kennedy and Dick Kennedy all of Longview and sister Virginia Strickland of Longview.
He is predeceased by his parents, Merritt J and Lyda M. Kennedy of Longview, sister, Audrey Crayne of Longview and twin sister Dorothy Stone of Longview, brothers Gene Kennedy and Ron Kennedy both of Longview.
