Bethany Anne Jacobs

September 6, 1978 — May 6, 2023

Bethany Anne Kochis, 44, died at Harbour Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Washington on May 6, 2023, with her parents at her side.

A family graveside service will be held May 25, 2023. She will be interred with her Brother Chris (1977-2019) and Grandmother Alice Mercer McCurtain(1926-1989) at Longview Memorial Park.

Beth was born the youngest of four children to Brian and Phyllis (Mercer) Kochis on September 6, 1978 in Longview, Washington. She grew on Lilac Street in a friendly neighborhood full of young children. She attended Olympic Elementary, Monticello Middle School and graduated from RA Long in 1996.

Beth spent the majority of her life living in the local area. In 2003 she married Eric Jacobs and they relocated to Fife, Washington. They later divorced and she moved to Tacoma. There she worked several service industry jobs. She and Eric remained friends and he was a wonderful emotional support person to her. Beth returned to Longview in 2008 where she continued to work in the service industry. She developed a real affinity for the elderly while working at The Canterbury Gardens. Wherever she resided she managed to find someone less fortunate to care for. Many times disregarding her own well being and personal safety.

On July 15, 2009, she gave birth to her daughter, Quin. Quin was the bright spot in her life and she loved her with all her heart. She enjoyed watching Quin’s piano recitals, soccer games and volleyball matches. She tried to convey to Quin how smart, beautiful, special and amazing she is. Something Beth never felt about herself.

Beth was an avid reader preferring nonfiction, biographies and stories of people overcoming adversity, 80’s music, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Jim Morrison and the Beatles.

Beth was intelligent, had a quirky personality, quick wit and a dry sense of humor. She could debate the simplest point much to her teacher's and parents' frustration. She wanted all wrongs righted and always rooted for the underdog.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Quin Kochis (Mike Kilgore); her parents, Brian and Phyllis (Mercer) Kochis; a brother, Eric Kochis; a sister, Amy Cronk; a niece, Saige Kochis; four nephews, Zach Kochis, Rhys Cronk, Kael Kochis and Caleb Kochis; and five uncles, Bruce, Bob, Barrett and Brad Kochis, and David Mercer.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry Mercer and Alice McCurtain, and Robert and Genevieve Kochis; and her beloved brother, Christopher Scott Kochis (1977-2019).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Beth’s name may be made to the Chris Kochis Memorial Scholarship at R.A. Long High School, Attn.: ASB Office, 2903 Nichols Blvd., Longview, WA 98632.
